Breaking Free: Living Beyond Endometriosis

Are you living beyond endometriosis? Is your endometriosis keeping you from enjoying your life? I know mine is. As I’m sitting here writing this, I’m in a funk because yet again my endometriosis is keeping me from something that I’ve been looking forward to for a while now. Why can’t I go out and enjoy myself and have fun? It’s because I’m bleeding heavily and I’m in a lot of pain to where all I want to do is stay balled up in bed. That is not living!!!!

Overcoming Endometriosis Challenges

About 5 years ago, I decided to try another form of birth control, Depo-Provera (contraceptive injection). I had already tried it about 5/6 years back and it didn’t help me, but I decided to try it again. Doctors say that it takes about 6 months for your body to adjust to being on birth control, but after 4 months my body did not like it.

This birth control increased my pain and caused me to bleed heavily for 15 days straight. Then, a week after my period finally stopped, I got my period again for 5 days. I was extremely weak, I had migraines, and severe cramps, and was very fatigued. I didn’t know how I would make it through each day. Recently, I passed out at work and was taken to the hospital due to loss of blood volume from being on my cycle for 11 days and was confined to bed rest. I wasn’t enjoying myself.

My endometriosis is worse than others but better than some, which is crazy. Just like everyone who has this, I know that they just want to live a normal life and not have to cancel plans because their period came on unexpectedly and won’t go off. You don’t want to constantly be on bed rest because the pain is excruciating. If no doctor wants to take us seriously or help us to live normal lives then it’s up to us. Live your life the best way that you can. Don’t let Endometriosis win!!!
